Andrés Giménez Hits 2 Homers, Drives In 5 in Loss
Andrés Giménez hit two home runs and drove in all five of Toronto’s runs in Monday’s loss to the Rays. The Blue Jays still lost, but he supplied every run they scored and ended a 21-game homerless stretch in the process.
Giménez Powers Toronto
The Toronto Blue Jays infielder went 2-for-4, opening with a three-run homer in the second inning and following with a two-run shot in the seventh. Those swings gave him five RBI and accounted for every run Toronto put on the board.
That kind of line stands out because it came after a long dry spell. Giménez entered the game without a homer in 21 straight contests and was carrying a.511 OPS during that stretch.
Blue Jays Need More
The power outage had also shaped his season totals. He has five home runs through 38 games and has not reached double-digit home runs in a season since 2023.
His 2023 season still remains the last time he cleared that mark, when he hit 15 home runs over 153 regular-season contests with Cleveland. Monday’s outburst did not change Toronto’s result, but it did reset the conversation around his bat after weeks without much carry.
For Toronto, the immediate takeaway is simple: Giménez can still change a game with one swing, but the lineup cannot rely on five solo runs from one hitter and expect a different outcome against the Rays.
