Scarlett Seals Hibs Score in Rangers' 2-1 Ibrox Loss
Hibs score was the headline at Ibrox, where Rangers lost 2-1 and suffered a fourth defeat in a row. Dane Scarlett struck late for Hibernian after James Tavernier withdrew from the squad before kick-off. The night should have belonged to Tavernier’s farewell presentation instead.
Tavernier’s Ibrox Exit
Tavernier withdrew after learning he would not start. Before the match, he still went out at Ibrox for a presentation from John Greig to mark 11 years of service before he leaves this summer.
That left Rangers trying to reset around a changing situation before a ball was kicked. Danny Röhl’s side then had to chase the game after Martin Boyle put Hibernian in front early.
Boyle, Aasgaard and Scarlett
Boyle finished the move after Jordan Obita provided the cross. Hibernian then had more than one way to protect the lead because Raphael Sallinger made several saves in the first half.
Rangers still found an answer before the break. Thelo Aasgaard levelled just before half-time with a powerful free-kick from 10 yards and sent the game into the interval even at 1-1.
The second half turned on the one chance Hibernian could not waste. Scarlett took it late and pushed Rangers into a defeat that stretched their run to four straight losses.
Rangers Under Pressure
The scoreline left Rangers staring at a damaging sequence they could not reverse at home. Hibernian did enough to leave with three points, and the late winner made sure Tavernier’s planned farewell at Ibrox ended with the result Rangers could not afford.
