Sinner Medvedev postponed with Sinner up 4-2 in the third
Jannik Sinner’s sinner medvedev semifinal at the Foro Italico was stopped with the Italian leading 1-1 in sets and 4-2 in the third. The match was postponed to today and is scheduled to resume not before 15:00.
Foro Italico interruption
Sinner had opened strongly, taking the first set 6-2 in 32 minutes before Daniil Medvedev levelled the match by winning the second. The momentum shifted again in the third, where Sinner broke back after a capolavoro in response and moved in front 4-2 before play was halted.
The delay came after a day disrupted by heavy rain and hail in the afternoon. Around 10,000 spectators were in the stadium when the second semifinal of the day finally began at about 19:15.
Sinner’s physical trouble
The more difficult stretch came in the second set. Sinner saved a set point at 6-5 before Medvedev took the set, but the Italian also vomited after a long rally and his right hand was visibly trembling.
He took salts and had difficulty swallowing, a sign that the match was turning into a physical test as well as a tennis one. Medvedev also showed his frustration early, telling his corner, "Sono 3-0, quindi... Cosa faccio?" when Sinner led 3-0 in the first set.
Resume at 15:00
The restart gives Sinner a chance to finish a semifinal he had already steered back in his direction. He also left the court needing to protect a 4-2 third-set lead against a veteran opponent who had just forced a third-set swing in his favor.
Sinner’s own voice said plenty after the break in momentum: "Vamos!" after he broke Medvedev’s serve in the third. That point became the last clean snapshot of a match that will resume with the score still hanging in the balance.
