Riverdale reports

Multiple 911 callers in Riverdale reported a person allegedly driving around and firing a gun into the air before police moved through the area. Sources familiar with the investigation said the incident may have started there, and police later said there were no outstanding suspects.

That sequence left several northern Prince George’s County neighborhoods under police attention at the same time. Residents in nearby communities were urged to follow police instructions and avoid the affected areas while investigators processed multiple scenes.

Greenbelt arrest

Police pursued the suspected shooter before apprehending the individual in Greenbelt. Authorities said one person had been arrested in connection with the shootings, but they had not publicly identified the suspect or released details about possible charges.

Officials also had not said whether the victims were specifically targeted or whether the shooting was random. The Prince George’s County Police Department had not released additional information about a possible motive or the sequence of events, leaving investigators to connect the reported locations, the recovered weapon, and the arrest.

By Friday evening, the case had narrowed to one person in custody and no outstanding suspects. The unanswered details now center on how the separate reports fit together and what police will disclose after continuing their review of the scenes.
