Josh Macleod Reaches 150 for Scarlets Vs Dragons
Josh Macleod will lead the Scarlets in scarlets vs dragons on Saturday, May 16, when he makes his 150th appearance at Parc y Scarlets. The game is the final round of the BKT United Rugby Championship, and the home side has made four personnel changes after a narrow loss to the Ospreys in Bridgend.
Macs Page Moves Inside
Eddie James is out with a knee injury, so Macs Page shifts from wing to outside centre and Joe Roberts partners him in midfield at inside centre. Blair Murray moves from full-back to left wing, while Ioan Jones gets only his second Scarlets start at full-back.
Joe Hawkins and Dane Blacker keep their half-back pairing for a fifth successive game. Josh Morse is named for his first URC start at loose-head prop, with Archer Holz at tight-head and Ryan Elias at hooker.
Douglas and Taylor Start
Jac Price joins Max Douglas in the second row, and Douglas will play his final game for the Scarlets before his summer move to Japan. Fletcher Anderson misses out after a groin issue against the Ospreys, while Taine Plumtree switches to No. 8 and Jarrod Taylor comes in at blindside flanker.
Gareth Davies is among the replacements after signing a new contract with the club this week. Sam O’Connor and Jac Davies are also on the bench after winning the SRC title with Llandovery RFC last weekend, and Osian Williams is included as well.
Nigel Davies on 150
Nigel Davies called Macleod’s milestone “a significant moment for the club” and said he is “not just our captain, he is a standard-bearer and one of the emotional leaders of this group.” He also said the squad wants “to finish the season the right way for the players moving on and for our supporters who have backed the team throughout this season and which we are very grateful for.”
That urgency sits alongside a season that is reaching its last weekend of a 34-week competitive match schedule, with departing players due presentations after Saturday’s game. For the Scarlets, the line-up changes are as much about ending well as marking Macleod’s 150th cap in a Welsh derby at home.
