Logan Forman Helps Stetson University Beat Florida State 8-3

Stetson University knocked off ninth overall seed Florida State 8-3 on Friday afternoon at Joanne Graf Field, opening the Tallahassee Regional with the bracket’s biggest early shakeup. The loss sent Florida State into the losers bracket, while Stetson advanced with the lowest seed in the regional.

Logan Forman Opens the Gap

Logan Forman put Stetson in front in the top of the second inning with a two-run home run. Florida State answered in the bottom of the frame when Anna Hinde hit a solo home run, but the Seminoles never fully erased the early damage.

Amber Chumley pushed the lead back in Stetson’s favor in the third inning with a three-run home run, and that swing carried the visitors to a 5-1 edge. Florida State cut it to 5-3 in the bottom half of the inning when Ashtyn Danley homered, but Stetson kept control from there.

The fourth inning brought another Stetson response, this time on a two-RBI single that stretched the margin again. A run in the sixth inning finished the scoring and left Florida State without a final answer after trimming the deficit twice.

Florida State entered the regional as the NCAA Tournament’s ninth overall seed, which made the opening loss a sharp turn in its own park. Stetson entered as the lowest seed and left with an 8-3 win that changed the path of the bracket before the weekend was over.

Florida State Draws Saturday Task

Florida State will face the loser of UCF and Jacksonville State on Saturday at 2:30 PM. For the Seminoles, that game now becomes the survival step after the regional opener went to Stetson.
