Niantic announces Deino Community Day on May 16, 2026
Pokémon GO’s deino community day classic will feature Deino on Saturday, May 16, 2026, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. local time. During that window, Deino will appear more frequently in the wild, and lucky players may encounter Shiny Deino.
Evolving Deino into Zweilous and then Hydreigon during the event will produce a Hydreigon that knows Brutal Swing. That is the same Charged Attack Hydreigon could learn during its original Community Day event in June 2022, giving the May 2026 event a clear path for players who want the move on a new catch or an existing Deino line.
Field Notes: Deino
The Community Day Special Research Story is Field Notes: Deino, and it costs $1.99 USD or the equivalent pricing in local currency. The research includes encounters with Deino, including three that will have a Special Background, which gives paid buyers a separate route to Deino-themed rewards beyond the wild spawns.
Deino-themed Field Research will also be available during the event. PokéStop Showcases will not be active during the event, so the usual showcase path will not be part of this Community Day Classic.
June 2022 Moveset
The event brings Deino back into the spotlight as a Community Day Classic, a format that began in January 2022 with Bulbasaur and continued with another Classic event in April 2022. The guide says this event will transport players to June 2022’s Community Day, which is why Brutal Swing is the key evolution reward.
For players, the practical window is narrow: three hours on May 16 to catch more Deino, work through Field Notes: Deino, and evolve for Brutal Swing before the event ends. Anyone aiming for Hydreigon with that move needs to finish the evolution during the event window.
