Andre Petroski Targets Stopage Win at UFC Vegas 117
andre petroski is set to return at UFC Vegas 117 on Saturday against Cody Brundage, and the middleweight says a stoppage is the only outcome that gets him on the Philadelphia card later this summer. He views Brundage as a familiar opponent, but the real target is bigger than one win.
Petroski Wants the Finish
“I think it would have made sense earlier; I do think it makes sense now,” Petroski said about the matchup. He added that it is familiar because he has trained with Brundage before and that both men have appeared on the same cards multiple times.
The finish is the part he keeps returning to. “I have to finish Cody so I can get on that card. I need to put in a good performance that I know I’m capable of, and I fully trust my manager will get on the Philly card,” he said.
Brundage And The Familiarity Factor
Petroski did not frame Brundage as an unknown. “He’s got some talent, but he always seems to shoot himself in the foot,” he said, pointing to what he sees as repeated mistakes in Brundage’s fights.
He also pointed to Brundage’s last outing as an example of a missed chance. “As long as I can go back and see, even his last fight, it felt like he could’ve beaten that kid, and he took the second round off,” Petroski said. That view shapes the way he is approaching Saturday: not as a fresh test, but as one he believes he understands.
UFC Vegas 117 On Saturday
Petroski said the stakes are personal at this stage of his career. “For sure. At this point in my career, I’m treating every fight as if it could be my last. I take nothing for granted. I’m working hard,” he said.
That mindset leaves little room for a points win or a slow build. He wants to do enough on Saturday to force the next booking conversation toward Philadelphia later this summer, and he has made clear that only a stoppage gives him the cleaner path.
