Andre Petroski Says Cody Brundage Fight Must End in Finish
Andre Petroski says cody brundage is the kind of opponent he has to finish at UFC Vegas 117 on Saturday if he wants a place on the UFC card in Philadelphia later this summer. The middleweight tied the outcome of this fight to his next step, turning one bout into a direct path to a later date.
“I have to finish Cody so I can get on that card. I need to put in a good performance that I know I’m capable of, and I fully trust my manager will get on the Philly card,” Petroski said. That leaves Saturday’s fight with more than just a win-loss edge; it is the performance test he believes will open the door to Philadelphia.
Petroski and Brundage History
Petroski called Brundage a familiar opponent because they have trained together and fought on the same cards multiple times. “It’s a familiar opponent; I have trained with Cody before, and we have both fought on the same cards multiple times. We have both been around for a while, so very familiar opponent,” he said.
That familiarity also shaped how he described Brundage’s game. “He’s got some talent, but he always seems to shoot himself in the foot,” Petroski said. He added, “As long as I can go back and see, even his last fight, it felt like he could’ve beaten that kid, and he took the second round off.”
UFC Vegas 117 Stakes
Petroski said he expects a stoppage win at UFC Vegas 117, not just a decision. That is the standard he set for himself before the matchup, and it is the one he says he needs to hit to keep the Philadelphia opportunity alive.
He also framed the fight as part of a larger career approach. “For sure. At this point in my career, I’m treating every fight as if it could be my last. I take nothing for granted. I’m working hard,” Petroski said.
The result on Saturday now carries a simple line for him: finish Brundage, and the Philadelphia card later this summer becomes the next target. If he falls short of that kind of ending, the path he described gets a lot narrower.
