Niverville Nighthawks Finish 4-0-0 to Lead Centennial Cup

The niverville nighthawks finished the 2026 Centennial Cup preliminary round at 4-0-0, collected 11 points and took first place in the standings. That left them with a bye through the quarterfinal round and one step closer to the championship game in Summerside, PEI.

Adam Vigfusson Leads Niverville

Adam Vigfusson drove the run from the front. The Nighthawks captain led all tournament skaters with seven goals and 10 points in four games, giving Niverville the top scoring edge to match its unbeaten record.

Niverville's 11 points finished two ahead of Collège Français de Longueuil. The Centennial Cup awards three points for a regulation win and two for an overtime victory, and that format shaped the standings across the preliminary round.

Flin Flon Misses the Cut

Manitoba's other entry, the Flin Flon Bombers, finished 2-2-0 for six points and did not reach the quarterfinal round. They lost a four-way tiebreaker with Toronto, Summerside and Truro on goal differential, a result that ended their tournament while Niverville stayed on the top line.

The Nighthawks' position at the top fits a season that already produced a record-setting 51-6-1 mark and an MJHL championship. After the preliminary round ended, they were scheduled to play Saturday evening against the lowest-ranked winner from the quarterfinals involving Canmore, Toronto, Truro and Summerside, with the championship game set for Sunday evening at Credit Union Place.
