Victoria said she was with Nayak when she learned she had been fired, and her reaction was blunt: “I looked at her and I just said, ‘I expected that for me,’” she said. “I didn’t feel mad, I didn’t feel sad. HGTV had paired Victoria, Nayak and Ty Pennington across four seasons of Battle on the Beach, so the shift is not just personal. It changes the show’s on-air lineup heading into its next run, with Sarah Baeumler and Mika Kleinschmidt taking Victoria and Nayak’s places alongside Pennington.

Victoria framed the handoff as the end of one version of the series rather than a total erase. “We started that show. No one will ever take that away from us,” she said. “We made great television, and now it’s time to pass the torch and see what they’ve got.”
