Lauren Patten Filmed Off Campus at UBC and Vancouver Sites — Where Was Off Campus Filmed

Lauren Patten helped make where was off campus filmed a practical question, and the answer runs through British Columbia’s production map. Prime Video’s Off Campus shot primarily in and around Vancouver, with the University of British Columbia standing in for Briar University.

UBC as Briar University

The University of British Columbia at 6200 University Boulevard carried the biggest load: it doubled as Briar University, the fictional campus at the center of the series. Off Campus is adapted from Elle Kennedy’s book series and follows Briar University students Hannah and Garrett Graham, so the campus had to look like a functioning college setting, not just a backdrop.

Filming began in early June 2025 under the working title Lillian Way and ran for about four months before wrapping in early October 2025. That schedule gave the production enough time to move across multiple locations instead of relying on a single lot, which is why the finished series can draw on a wider Vancouver footprint than a typical campus drama.

Vancouver locations used

Several real sites filled out Briar’s world. Doug Mitchell Thunderbird Sports Centre at 6066 Thunderbird Boulevard handled some sequences, while The DOUGLAS, Autograph Collection at 45 Smithe Street was also used during filming. The Heatley at 696 East Hastings Street provided interior scenes for a local pub, giving the show a second register beyond the university itself.

Pacific Coliseum within Hastings Park at 100 North Renfrew Street also became part of the production’s route, and the cast and crew were spotted there shooting at the venue, which is also referred to as The Coliseum or the Rink on Renfrew. Riverview Hospital at 2601 Lougheed Highway in Coquitlam rounded out the list of identified sites, adding one more piece of British Columbia geography to a series built around a fictional school.

Lauren Patten on set

Lauren Patten put the experience in her own words: “enrolled at Briar U, got to work with one of my favorite people on the show she created, and took in some beautiful Canadian scenery in between filming days — couldn’t ask for anything more! thank you, @offcampusonprime.” Her comment matches the production pattern: a series with a campus story used real British Columbia locations to sell the illusion.

The practical takeaway is simple. Anyone looking for Briar University on screen should think Vancouver first, then UBC, Pacific Coliseum, The Heatley, The DOUGLAS, Doug Mitchell Thunderbird Sports Centre, and Riverview Hospital. For a show built around hockey and campus life, that location mix does the job without pretending one building can carry every scene.
