Mbeumo Starts as Man United Vs Nottm Forest Lineups Named
Manchester United named Bryan Mbeumo in their starting XI for man united vs nottm forest at Old Trafford. The forward replaced Joshua Zirkzee in a 4-2-3-1 shape, while Nottingham Forest answered with a 4-4-2 and a narrow midfield.
The selection gives United a different attacking look on their final home game of the season. It also keeps Casemiro in the lineup for a match that carries farewell weight around Old Trafford.
United’s 4-2-3-1
Diogo Dalot returned at right-back for United, taking the place of Noussair Mazraoui. The rest of the starting group was Lammens, Dalot, Maguire, Martinez, Shaw, Casemiro, Mainoo, Amad, Fernandes, Cunha and Mbeumo.
That leaves Zirkzee among the substitutes, with Bayindir, Dorgu, Heaven, Malacia, Mazraoui, Yoro, Mount, Ugarte and Zirkzee also named on the bench. It is a clear sign that the front line has been adjusted around Mbeumo rather than kept intact from the previous selection.
Forest’s 4-4-2
Nottingham Forest went with Sels, Williams, Morato, Milenkovic, Netz, Hutchinson, Anderson, Dominguez, Gibbs-White, Wood and Igor Jesus. Vítor Pereira set them up in a compact 4-4-2, with Morgan Gibbs-White given something of a free role from the left-hand side.
Forest also chose two traditional strikers to press high and try to force United’s defence into errors. Their bench featured Victor, Ortega, Sangaré, Awoniyi, Yates, Cunha, McAtee, Bakwa and Abbott.
Casemiro at Old Trafford
Tributes to Casemiro were expected before and after the game. A tifo to the Brazilian in the Stretford End was due to be unfurled as the players walked out for kick-off, and he was also set to give a post-match speech.
The match mattered beyond the farewell mood. Manchester United had already secured Champions League football for next season, and third place could be mathematically sealed against Forest, giving the team’s final home fixture a direct competitive edge as well as a ceremonial one.
