Carrick Joins 6-Man List for Man United Table Award
Michael Carrick has been placed on the six-man shortlist for the Barclays Manager of the Season award after 15 Premier League games in charge of Manchester United, a spell that lifted the club from sixth to third in the man united table. Fans can vote until 12:00 BST on Monday 18 May, with the public vote joined by a panel of football experts.
Carrick's 15-game rise
Carrick took over as head coach in mid-January after Ruben Amorim left, and his first match brought a 2-0 win over Manchester City. From there, United collected 33 of their 65 points under his stewardship and finished with Champions League football next season secured.
That run included wins over Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool and Spurs, giving his case a record that goes beyond the league table jump. He managed only 15 of United's 36 Premier League matches, yet those games carried enough weight to put him in line for one of the division's top individual awards.
Six nominees, one vote
The other nominees are Keith Andrews, Mikel Arteta, Pep Guardiola, Andoni Iraola and Regis Le Bris. Andrews has Brentford on 36 matches, 14 wins, 9 draws and 13 losses, while Arteta's Arsenal sit on 24 wins, 7 draws and 5 losses from 36.
Guardiola's Manchester City record stands at 23 wins, 8 draws and 5 losses in 36 matches. Iraola has AFC Bournemouth on 13 wins, 16 draws and 7 losses, and Le Bris has Sunderland on 12 wins, 12 draws and 12 losses.
For United, the nomination comes down to a short but sharp finish to the season. Carrick's 15-match spell turned a sixth-place side into a third-place team, and the award process now gives supporters until Monday afternoon to weigh that burst against managers who handled full league campaigns.
