Dembele Injury leaves PSG waiting on Arsenal final fitness

Dembele injury hit Paris Saint-Germain on Sunday when Ousmane Dembele was forced off after 27 minutes against Paris FC. Goncalo Ramos came on before the half-hour mark, and Dembele headed straight down the tunnel with PSG already looking at a Champions League final against Arsenal in just under two weeks.

PSG Lose Dembele Early

Dembele was selected as the striker for PSG and had scored three goals in the previous round, so the withdrawal cut out one of Luis Enrique's main attacking options before the match had settled. Paris Saint-Germain went on to lose 2-1 to Paris FC, with Bradley Barcola and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia also coming off just before the hour-mark.

Initial reports in France suggested the substitution was precautionary, but the exact extent of the injury was unknown. That leaves PSG with another fitness issue to monitor as the final approaches, after minor injuries have already followed Dembele through parts of the season.

Arsenal Watch Timber Update

Arsenal have their own injury watch to manage. Jurrien Timber has been out for the last two months, and Mikel Arteta said, "He's progressed a bit in the last few days... We're going to try to get him fit and available as quick as possible. Let's see."

Arteta also said, "Obviously, he's been out a while, unfortunately. He's such an important player for us, and he's doing everything that he possibly can to help the team in any capacity." Arsenal are scheduled to play Burnley at Emirates Stadium on Monday evening, with Manchester City at Bournemouth on Tuesday and the title race set to extend to the final day if needed.

PSG Injury Picture

Achraf Hakimi, Nuno Mendes and Willian Pacho are also carrying injuries, and the hope is that they will be fit to feature against Arsenal. That makes Dembele's status one of several moving parts for PSG before the final, but he is the one who changed the tone of Sunday most sharply, leaving early after an injury scare and creating a fresh question for Luis Enrique's side ahead of the trip into next week.
