Hurricanes Lock In May 21 Start in Carolina — Ecf Schedule
The ecf schedule is set for the Carolina Hurricanes, who will open the Eastern Conference Final at home on Thursday, May 21. Carolina will play Game 1 in Raleigh after the Montreal Canadiens and Buffalo Sabres pushed their series to a Game 7.
The Hurricanes had already cleared the second round by sweeping the Philadelphia Flyers, and they were 8-0 in the playoffs when the schedule was published. That leaves them waiting almost two weeks from their last game on May 9 before the East final begins.
Raleigh Gets Games 1 and 2
Carolina, the top seed in the Eastern Conference, will have home-ice advantage against either Montreal or Buffalo. The club is set to host Games 1 and 2, and if the series goes deep, Games 5 and 7 would also be in Raleigh.
The NHL released two possible Eastern Conference Final schedules ahead of Thursday's Game 5 between Montreal and Buffalo because that matchup had not been decided. Montreal then beat Buffalo 6-3 to move ahead 3-2, and the Sabres answered with an 8-3 win in Game 6 to force Monday's winner-take-all game.
Canadiens, Sabres Force Game 7
That back-and-forth left Carolina waiting on the opponent while the bracket settled. The East final cannot start until the Montreal-Buffalo series ends, but the Hurricanes already know the opening date and the first two venues.
Game 1 is scheduled for Thursday, May 21 at Carolina, followed by Game 2 on Saturday, May 23. Games 3 and 4 shift to BUF/MON on Monday, May 25 and Wednesday, May 27, with Games 5, 6 and 7 listed for May 29, May 31 and June 2 if necessary.
Hurricanes’ Long Road Back
This is the third time in four seasons Carolina has reached the Eastern Conference Final, but the last time the franchise reached the Stanley Cup Final was the 2005-06 season. The schedule gives the Hurricanes a fixed path and a home start, even while the opponent remains unresolved until Monday.
For Carolina, the immediate task is simple: wait for the winner of Montreal-Buffalo, then turn the May 21 opener into the next step of a playoff run that has already reached 8-0.
