Chris Hogg Set for Northampton Town Role After Norwich Exit
chris hogg is expected to be announced as Northampton Town's new boss after leaving Norwich City in November 2025. The 41-year-old is set for his first crack at senior management, taking over a club that finished bottom of League One.
Northampton Town Move Forward
Hogg would succeed Kevin Nolan, who left Sixfields in early March, with Colin Calderwood taking interim charge after that departure. Northampton now move into League Two after a campaign that left them at the foot of the division, so the next manager inherits a rebuild rather than a promotion push.
The appointment would give Hogg a first senior role after years spent in assistant and academy work. He began coaching in 2015 in Ipswich Town's academy, later leading the under-18s and under-23s before becoming first-team coach under Paul Lambert.
Manning Partnership At Four Clubs
His most sustained spell came alongside Liam Manning. Hogg spent four years with him across Milton Keynes Dons, Oxford United, Bristol City and Norwich City, starting as Manning's assistant at Milton Keynes Dons in August 2021.
That run brought real progression and sharp turns. Milton Keynes Dons finished third in League One in their first season together before losing to Wycombe Wanderers in the play-off semi-final, and Hogg and Manning were dismissed in December 2022 before linking up again at Oxford United a few months later.
They were then poached by Bristol City in November 2023. Bristol finished 11th in their opening campaign together, then reached the Championship play-offs in the 2024/25 season for the first time in 17 years.
Norwich Exit And What Follows
Norwich brought in Manning in place of Johannes Hoff Thorup, and Hogg went with him to Norfolk. His stay there lasted just six months before the exit in November 2025, leaving Northampton with a coach whose career has been shaped by short, intense partnerships and one clear step up into management.
For Northampton, the immediate task is clear: replace an interim setup, steady the squad after a last-place finish, and hand Hogg a first senior job at the same level where his long apprenticeship has ended. The rebuild begins with the manager, and this one arrives with experience from four clubs but none as the man in charge.
