Jean-nicolas Verreault soutient Marie-Simone avec La 2e Classe

Jean-nicolas verreault said he chose to scolariser his daughter Marie-Simone at home after school became complicated for her in deuxième secondaire. He and Jannie-Karina looked for a way to keep her studies on track without having to teach her themselves.

Verreault said the family first assumed homeschooling would mean doing the teaching at home. He ruled that out because, as he put it, they do not have time for that.

Instead, Marie-Simone follows her classes through La 2e Classe, a program he discovered un peu avant Noël. He said the service lets her take six courses per week with five different teachers and covers the core secondary school subjects.

“C’était compliqué pour ma fille à l’école — elle est en deuxième secondaire — et on cherchait des solutions,” Verreault said. He added that the goal was for her to continue her studies successfully, enjoy studying and get good results.

Violence et intimidation

The school change came after Marie-Simone faced intimidation and acts of violence at school. Verreault described her as a bright child whose experience was socially difficult, and said the family looked for a solution that would fit her situation.

He said he and Jannie-Karina contacted the two founders of La 2e Classe early in the year after reading about the program and watching its videos. Verreault said he understood that Marie-Simone could follow her courses at home and that the program prepares students for ministère de l’Éducation exams.

The interview took place at the family’s home with their three daughters, Romy, Marie-Simone and Mia-T. Verreault, who plays Gabriel Lemaire in STAT, said the home-learning setup gave his daughter a workable path after a school year that had become too complicated to manage in the usual way.

For families facing the same kind of pressure, the practical shift is straightforward: the student leaves the school environment, keeps the secondary curriculum through La 2e Classe and studies with multiple teachers instead of relying on a parent to take over instruction.
