UCLA Holds No. 1 as Tennessee Enters D1 Baseball Rankings

UCLA stayed at No. 1 in the final d1 baseball rankings of the regular season, and the top 10 did not change. Tennessee was one of two new teams in the top 25, joining a field that now heads into conference tournament week.

UCLA and Will Gasparino

Will Gasparino and UCLA remained in position to chase the No. 1 overall seed in the NCAA Tournament. That kept the Bruins on top while the rest of the top 10 held steady through the last regular-season update.

The top spot mattered because there was no late shake-up at the top. With conference tournament week next, the ranking left UCLA in place and did not force any movement among the teams directly behind it.

Auburn Holds at No. 6

Auburn stayed at No. 6 despite a 1-3 week. The Tigers lost at Jacksonville State and also lost a home series to Georgia, yet the ranking did not move them after six straight series wins earlier in the season and a series win at Texas A&M two weeks ago.

That stretch made Auburn the clearest example of how the final regular-season board balanced one bad week against a stronger body of work. The Tigers slipped on the field, but the ranking still left them in the same spot among the top teams.

Arizona State and Tennessee Rise

Arizona State moved in after winning two of three at Houston and finishing 19-11 in the Big 12. Tennessee also entered after closing with series wins over Texas and Oklahoma and climbing to.500 in the SEC.

Those two entries came as Oklahoma and Boston College fell out. Oklahoma dropped from No. 18 after losing two of three at home to Tennessee and dropping its final three series of the season, while Boston College exited after losing six of its final seven games and being swept by Georgia Tech at home by a combined 38-3.

The final regular-season ranking leaves the top of the board unchanged and tightens the focus on the teams still rising. Tennessee is in, UCLA is still first, and the next round of games starts with the bracket shape already set at the top.
