Patriots Could Pay First-Round Price in A.j. Brown Eagles Trade Rumors

A.J. Brown Eagles trade rumors got a sharper frame when Jeremy Fowler said the Patriots probably already agreed loosely to a deal and that June 1 is the date to watch. The New England side could end up paying a first-round pick while also taking on the remainder of Brown's contract.

Jeremy Fowler and the Patriots

Fowler said his best guess is that the framework is already there. “My best guess is they probably already agreed to something loosely,” he said, adding, “They can always tweak that or rework it.”

He then put a ceiling on what Philadelphia might get back. “They’re probably getting a (first round pick), maybe a future (first rounder), maybe it’s a 2028. I don’t think they’ll get more than that. I think that will be the max at this point,” Fowler said. That matches the most common read around the league, where many expect Brown to land in New England.

June 1 on the calendar

June 1 is the key date because it makes far more sense for the Eagles to move Brown after that point. Insiders have been saying for the last month or so that the Patriots are likely the destination, and Brown is said to want to be with them.

The trade structure also explains why the price has stayed tight. A first-round pick is already the baseline most experts expect, and Fowler's range does not go beyond that even if the pick lands in a future draft.

Brown, Philadelphia, and the cost

The Eagles have long been expected to deal Brown from Philadelphia, and the run-up to June 1 has turned the conversation from rumor to timing. Brown was pictured on Sep. 21, 2025, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, against the Los Angeles Rams, but the current discussion centers on whether the Patriots are ready to take on both the pick cost and the contract load.

That is the friction point in the deal. New England is coming off a run to the Super Bowl, so a move for Brown would not be a minor depth adjustment; it would be a major investment in a receiver who already sits at the center of the team's trade chatter.
