Marco Penge Takes Time Off After 75 and 77 at Aronimink
marco penge is stepping away from golf after missing the cut at Aronimink by eight shots. The 28-year-old said he will take some time off to get his health back to where it needs to be, then return soon.
Penge Leaves After Aronimink
Penge posted rounds of 75 and 77 before exiting early at Aronimink. He finished eight shots adrift of the cut line, then issued a direct statement on his next move: “Moving forward, I have decided that I am going to take some time off to get my health back to where it needs to be. Thank you for your support as always! I’ll be back soon!”
The break comes after a rough opening to 2026. He missed the cut in his first two events of the season and also went out early at The Players Championship, the Texas Children’s Houston Open, and the PGA Championship.
Health Issues Since Dubai
This is not the first time Penge has pointed to illness. In January, he said he had been battling it since the DP World Tour’s end-of-season events in Dubai and had delayed his season debut.
Ahead of the PGA Championship, he said he had undergone an MRI scan after recurring issues involving his ear, neck, nervous system, and vertigo symptoms. The results came back clear. Even with those setbacks, he still put together a T4 finish at the Valspar Championship and a T16 at the Genesis Invitational.
Penge’s 2025 season changed his profile fast. He won three DP World Tour events, rose into the top 30 of the Official World Golf Rankings, and secured a PGA Tour card. That rise makes this pause a notable one for a player who had become one of the sharper emerging names on the circuit.
Second Child, Short Pause
There is also a personal layer to the break. Penge and his wife recently welcomed their second child, and the time away from competition now gives him a chance to reset before trying to resume the run that made 2025 his breakout year.
