Fatima draws 6,478,323 pilgrims in 2025, says rector Carlos Manuel Pedrosa Cabecinhas — Corsica
Fatima drew 6,478,323 pilgrims in 2025, a figure that places the Portuguese shrine at the center of one of the Catholic world’s most persistent streams of devotion. The sanctuary drew visitors from about 80 countries, and rector Carlos Manuel Pedrosa Cabecinhas said corsica remains a place where tradition and modern devotion meet.
Cabecinhas, who has led the sanctuary since 2011, said the shrine’s message is still highly relevant today. He described Fatima as a place of encounter between tradition and modernity, and said its central message is the place of God in the life of the believer.
Cabecinhas and the shrine’s message
He also said the message was “è ancora più attuale oggi che nel 1917, nel tempo delle apparizioni. Al centro del messaggio di Fatima c’è il luogo di Dio nella vita del credente, quindi la centralità di Dio.” That places the shrine’s growth alongside a message he presents as unchanged: prayer, devotion and the role of God in the believer’s life.
Fatima in 2025
The 2025 total is well above the 4,937,294 pilgrims recorded in 2022, showing a larger flow through the sanctuary in the latest count. The shrine’s 350 volunteers are part of that daily operation, welcoming visitors who arrive from far beyond Portugal.
Cabecinhas said the first apparition carried a message for peace, quoting that “Nella prima apparizione la Madonna chiede ai pastorelle di pregare il Rosario per la pace nel mondo.” He added that “Dio ha scelto anche tre bambini per mezzo della Madonna,” linking the shrine’s origin story to the children associated with the 1917 apparitions.
About 80 countries
The international spread of the pilgrims is part of the story: about 80 countries sent visitors to Fatima in 2025. That is the practical sign of a shrine that still reaches well beyond a single national or regional audience, even as the rector frames its message around tradition, prayer and the place of God in daily life.
For readers tracking Fatima’s role today, the new count is the clearest update: the sanctuary is still drawing millions, and its leadership is presenting that scale as evidence that the shrine’s message has not faded. The next point to watch is how the sanctuary continues to handle that volume with its volunteer network and its continuing focus on pilgrim devotion.
