Adam Scott Us Open 2026: 35 exemptions put streak at 100 majors
Adam Scott us open 2026 is now tied to a rare milestone. He was among 35 exemptions into the field announced Monday, and that puts him on course for his 100th consecutive major at June’s U.S. Open.
The Australian was one of 24 players exempted through top-60 spots in the world rankings as of Monday. Scott was 49th in the world, keeping him safely inside the cutoff and extending a streak that began at the 2001 Open Championship.
Scott and Nicklaus
Scott played his 100th career major and 99th consecutive major at last week’s PGA Championship. His run includes the 2013 Masters, and the U.S. Open exemption now leaves him within reach of a milestone reached only once before in major championship golf.
Jack Nicklaus is the only other player cited as having competed in 100 or more consecutive majors. Nicklaus played 146 straight majors from the 1962 Masters through the 1998 U.S. Open, a standard Scott is now set to join in a far narrower club.
Other names in the field
The Monday list also included Jordan Spieth, who ended 2025 ranked 80th in the world and has climbed to 47th, and Patrick Reed, who has risen to 21st with his success on the DP World Tour since departing LIV Golf. Reed is set for his 12th straight U.S. Open start.
Kristoffer Reitan will play his first U.S. Open as a professional at Shinnecock Hills in Southampton, New York, after qualifying there as an amateur in 2018. Alex Smalley, who climbed 36 spots after sharing second at the PGA Championship, will make his second U.S. Open start after debuting in 2017 at Erin Hills.
Aaron Rai at Shinnecock Hills
Aaron Rai also received a five-year exemption into the U.S. Open after winning the PGA Championship on Sunday. For Scott, though, the headline remains the same: one more major start this June, and the streak reaches 100.
