M60 clockwise closed between junctions 22 and 23 after car blocks road

The clockwise m60 in Manchester is closed between junction 22 at the Hollinwood Interchange in Oldham and junction 23 at the Snipe Interchange at Ashton-under-Lyne after a car blocked the road. Greater Manchester Police officers, National Highways and staff from Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service are at the scene.

Traffic has backed up along the motorway, and the A635 Manchester Road is also closed. National Highways told drivers heading clockwise to follow the "solid diamond diversion symbol" on road signs.

Greater Manchester Police at the scene

Greater Manchester Police said the closure was caused by a "broken down car between two lanes." That leaves one of Greater Manchester's main orbital routes shut across a short but busy stretch, with traffic forced to slow or stop while crews deal with the vehicle.

National Highways on M60 delays

National Highways said, "Due to the nature of the incident we cannot provide an estimated duration for the closure." For drivers already on the route, that means the safest option is to follow the signed diversion and avoid the closed section until the road is reopened.
