Toyota Australia Announces Toyota Hilux Factory Gvm Upgrade for 2026

Toyota Australia has announced a toyota hilux factory gvm upgrade for selected HiLux 4×4 variants from August 2026, giving buyers a factory-fit option that lifts payload by up to 435kg. The $4000 upgrade applies to six variants and keeps the Toyota five-year warranty.

John Pappas, Toyota Australia vice president sales, marketing and franchise operations, said the option will let customers “maximise the vehicle’s already-excellent load-carrying capabilities,” and said it offers benefits for both fleet and private buyers. The factory-fitted package is also compatible with all safety systems, Toyota said.

HiLux variants and payload

The eligible models are the HiLux WorkMate dual-cab chassis, WorkMate dual-cab pickup, SR Extra-cab chassis, SR dual-cab chassis, SR dual-cab pickup and SR5 dual-cab pickup. Toyota said the payload increase ranges from 372kg to 435kg depending on grade, with maximum payload climbing to approximately 1525kg depending on the variant.

The upgrade also raises front axle capacity by 100kg and rear axle capacity by 280kg. Toyota said the ride height increases by up to 10mm because of longer monotube shock absorbers on the rear axle.

Toyota and aftermarket upgrades

Toyota said the upgrades were developed in Australia, and the announcement puts its own factory option alongside aftermarket GVM products already launched by EFS and Ironman 4×4. Pappas said the Toyota option’s warranty and safety-system compatibility give it “a real advantage over its aftermarket competition.”

For buyers comparing load-upgrade options on these HiLux 4×4 models, the immediate takeaway is simple: Toyota has put a factory-backed path on the table, but only for selected grades and only from August 2026. Customers wanting the extra carrying capacity will need to choose one of the eligible variants and pay the $4000 upgrade price.
