Young Timers Garage Moves 2006 Bathurst 1000 Winner in Private Sale
A private buyer has bought a fleet of Muscle Car Warehouse cars through Young Timers Garage, including the 2006 bathurst 1000-winning Betta Electrical Ford Falcon BA and the 2012 Team Vodafone ‘Kate’ Holden Commodore VE. The sale was completed earlier this year under a veil of secrecy for an undisclosed sum, but the cars are set to remain visible at selected events rather than disappear into storage.
Shaun Baker on the deal
Shaun Baker called it one of the most significant deals in Supercars history. He also said the process took six months and that the cars had to go into one collection, a condition he was able to meet.
The purchase covers more than just the two headline cars. It also includes the 1993 Bathurst-winning Perkins Engineering VP Commodore, Larry Perkins’ last Great Race ride in a 2003 Perkins Engineering VY Commodore, three Stone Brothers Racing Pirtek Falcons, Marcos Ambrose’s 2001/02 AU Falcon, and his BA Falcon that won championship titles in 2003 and 2004.
Bathurst names in one place
One of the Stone Brothers Racing Pirtek Falcons is the EL that Jason Bright and Steven Richards drove to victory in the 1998 Bathurst 1000. The collection also includes an ex-factory Nissan Skyline HR31 Group A and a Jim Richards Porsche 911 GT3 Cup Car, giving the buyer a line-up that spans Bathurst winners, championship cars and factory machinery.
The fleet had already been shown publicly during the 60th anniversary Bathurst celebrations in 2023 while under Muscle Car Warehouse ownership. That history is part of the appeal now, because Young Timers Garage said the cars will be made available for display at certain events such as Bathurst, with Baker saying, “They’re not going to be tucked away” and “They will be made available for display at certain events such as Bathurst.”
The sale also follows news earlier this year that four other Holden Commodores were sold to another private collector. For fans who want to see these cars again, the change in ownership does not shut the door on public appearances; it keeps them in circulation for the events where their history still draws a crowd.
Muscle Car Warehouse cars
The buyer now owns a collection built around some of the most recognizable names in Australian touring car history, with Bathurst winners from 1993, 1998 and 2006 alongside Marcos Ambrose’s championship cars and the 2012 Team Vodafone ‘Kate’ Holden Commodore VE. The deal is private, but the cars themselves are not meant to stay hidden.
