Tom Trbojevic Backs Kieran Foran for Manly Warringah Sea Eagles Job
Tom Trbojevic wants Kieran Foran handed the full-time Manly Warringah Sea Eagles job after a run of six wins from seven games lifted the club into the NRL top four. The skipper said Manly’s form under the interim coach should carry weight as the club moves toward a decision.
Trbojevic on Foran
“I’d love him to be the head coach,” Trbojevic said to SEN radio. He added: “I don’t know what process it has to go to but I’m sure Kingy (CEO Jason King) is having conversations with the right people and it will get done.”
That endorsement comes after Anthony Seibold was axed and Foran took over. Manly has won six of seven games since the change, with the only loss a two-point defeat to Penrith in Round 9.
Manly’s seven-match run
The results have pushed Manly into the top four ahead of a home clash against the Titans on Saturday night. Over the seven-match run under Foran, the club has conceded less than 14 points per game, a number that has put its defence at the center of the turnaround.
That defensive stretch is the best in the competition since Foran took over, and Manly’s numbers are its best since the 2008 premiership-winning season. The run has given the club a platform that was not there when Seibold was removed.
Trbojevic’s hamstring
Trbojevic also addressed his own return from an eighth hamstring injury. “Recovery from hamstrings can be a bit slower than you’d like them to be,” he said.
He ruled out a comeback in Round 13 and said, “It won’t be Round 13. We’ll try for one or two matches after that but we’ll see how I’m tracking.” For Manly, the immediate focus is the Titans on Saturday night and the coaching call that Trbojevic expects bosses to make official in the coming weeks.
