Western Mass Invaders Plan May 29 Movie Night for Cooperstown
The Western Mass Invaders will hold an outdoor movie night on May 29 at School Street Park to raise money for their cooperstown trip to Cooperstown Dreams Park. The Agawam-based travel baseball group is trying to cover expenses for 12 young athletes heading to the July 24-29 tournament.
School Street Park And $12 Tickets
The fundraiser starts at 8:30 p.m., with tickets priced at $12 and 250 available. Tickets can be purchased on Venmo, and all proceeds will go toward the team’s trip. Popcorn, water and snacks will also be sold at the event.
The movie is The Sandlot. If rain forces a cancellation, 50% of each ticket will be refunded and the other 50% will still support the fundraiser.
Janette Vigo On The Trip
Janette Vigo, the team manager, said the roster is made up of “12 dedicated young athletes from Western Massachusetts who have worked extremely hard — both on and off the field — to earn this opportunity to go to Cooperstown.”
She added that the trip “is incredibly important to these boys because it represents years of hard work, dedication, growth and commitment to both the sport and each other as teammates.” The team’s goal is to raise approximately $10,000, money that will help cover umpire fees, player uniforms, trading pins, lodging-related tournament costs and the overall Cooperstown Dreams Park experience for the players and families.
July 24-29 In Cooperstown
Cooperstown Dreams Park is being described as a week-long tournament experience where teams from across the country come together to compete. Vigo said, “Cooperstown is something youth players dream about — it gives them the opportunity to compete against teams from all over the country, experience the traditions and atmosphere surrounding the game and create memories they will carry with them forever.”
The Invaders are also seeking sponsors, and business names and logos will be featured on the team banner. For the players and families, May 29 is the first public push toward a July trip that comes with a long list of costs and a short fundraising window.
