Jenny Slatten Reveals ALS Diagnosis Ahead of Season 3
jenny slatten has been diagnosed with ALS, a development she and Sumit Singh shared ahead of season 3 of 90 Day: The Last Resort. The couple, who live in India, said doctors have told them the disease is progressing slowly as they explore possible treatments.
December 2024 Symptoms
Jenny Slatten, 68, first noticed something was wrong in December 2024 when she choked badly while drinking water. Migraines and trouble swallowing pills followed, then her speech slowed and she began avoiding conversations and often refused to speak entirely. “That’s when we knew something was wrong,” she said.
Sumit Singh, 38, said he initially thought the change in her speech might have another cause after the couple appeared at a 90 Day Fiancé holiday party in New York City in December 2025. “I was thinking that maybe … Jenny didn’t even sleep,” he said. After a commenter suggested ALS, he looked into the disease and added, “And then I find out that these symptoms she was having — this is what it looks like,”
Neurologists in India
After returning to India, the couple met with several neurologists. Doctors first thought Jenny had a little clot in her brain, but a second opinion led to the ALS diagnosis. When they learned the result, she said, “We cried and held each other.”
ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease, is a fatal and progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord. Jenny’s father died of ALS more than a decade ago, a family history that sits behind the diagnosis and the slow, difficult search for treatment.
June 1 On 90 Day: The Last Resort
The diagnosis arrives just before season 3 of 90 Day: The Last Resort premieres June 1. For viewers, the show now carries a medical storyline that extends beyond the usual relationship drama: Jenny and Sumit are trying to keep moving while the disease advances slowly and they sort through treatment options. Their shorthand for the moment is simple: “live life.”
