Hull FC Rule Out 2027 Las Vegas Trip — Andrew Thirkill Hull Fc Statement
Hull FC will not play in Las Vegas in 2027, and the andrew thirkill hull fc statement puts the decision down to the club's own priorities after weighing commercial return, performance impact, and its home-ground commitments. Chief operating officer Tony Sutton said the call was made in the best interests of the club after a run-through of the terms and the likely return.
Tony Sutton and Hull FC
Sutton said the club had looked at what it could earn from participation, including ticket sales commission and other revenues, before deciding against the trip. “That's the overriding factor; it's what is in the best interests of the club, and having those interests at heart with what we want the club to achieve this year, next year, in five years, and in 10 years' time and making sure that all of those things align.”
He added: “We're super supportive of the Super League in Las Vegas and that alignment with the NRL and the objectives that they want to achieve, but they must align with the club's objectives and priorities overall.” The club had previously declared interest in the 2027 event, and Rugby League Commercial chief Rhodri Jones had labelled Hull FC a frontrunner alongside St Helens to go to Sin City next year.
MKM Stadium and 13 home games
Hull FC also weighed its negotiation of a new user agreement to play at the MKM Stadium, where it has a contract to play 13 home games. That home schedule sat alongside the wider commercial case, including the impact on sponsors and members who paid to watch those games in Hull.
Sutton said: “That's what we have been assessing behind the scenes: what the terms for participation in the Super League in Las Vegas in 2027 are, and what we can earn from it in terms of ticket sales commission or what we can earn from it in terms of other revenues.” He called it “a really big overseas trip, and quite early on in the season.”
Steve McNamara and 2028
The performance side of the decision was tied to the growth of the squad under incoming head coach Steve McNamara. Hull FC said it had given the issue a full review before deciding that staying put was the better fit for 2027.
Even so, the door is not shut on a future trip. Hull FC remains open to the possibility of playing in Las Vegas in 2028, while the NRL's deal with Allegiant Stadium runs for another two seasons.
