Toronto police search Earl Bales Park for missing 14-year-old Esther
Toronto police are searching earl bales park for 14-year-old Esther, who was last seen around 11:30 p.m. Friday at a community centre in North York. Duty Inspector Scott Bradbury said the search has continued for nearly 48 hours.
Police have used mounted officers, drones and marine units, and neighbours have joined the effort. Bradbury said police are concerned for her safety.
Bradbury's Sunday appeal
On Sunday, Bradbury urged people near Earl Bales Park to check video cameras and nearby coffee shops for signs of the girl. “We’re imploring the community and neighbours outside Earls Bales Park to please review video cameras. To look in the coffee shops, to watch for somebody – a young person – who may be asking for food, money, help or directions,” he said.
He also asked the public to help locate her so police can bring her back to her family. “I’m asking for the public to help us put eyes on her so we can make sure she’s safe and reunite her with her family,” Bradbury said.
Earl Bales Park search area
The search area covers Earl Bales Park, a heavily wooded 127-acre space with multiple walking trails and the West Don River running through it. Police said Esther was last seen wearing a green long sleeve top and grey track pants that are loose around the ankle.
She is described as five-foot-two with a medium build and brown hair. For people near the park, the practical request is direct: review any camera footage from late Friday night onward and check nearby businesses for a young person matching that description.
