Partick Thistle F.c. Host St Mirren in Firhill Play-Off First Leg

Partick Thistle F.c. Host St Mirren in Firhill Play-Off First Leg

partick thistle f.c. will host St Mirren in the first leg of the William Hill Premiership Play-Off at The Wyre Stadium at Firhill on Thursday 21 May 2026 at 8pm. The tie arrives with promotion at stake, and St Mirren's allocation has already sold out.

Firhill Hosts The First Leg

The match is set for Thursday night, and 1,800 Buddies will be behind St Mirren inside Firhill. Ryan Lee will referee the game, with Andrew Dallas on VAR.

For St Mirren supporters who secured a place, the practical options are straightforward: the away section is gone, but the match will be shown live on Sky Sports. International subscribers to St Mirren TV can also watch it as part of their subscription.

Wilson's Side Reach The Final

Mark Wilson's side reached the Play-Off Final after beating Dunfermline 3-2 on aggregate. Partick Thistle drew 1-1 at East End Park in the first leg, then came from behind at Firhill to finish the job.

Charlie Gilmour put Dunfermline ahead in the second leg, before Logan Chalmers and Alex Samuel turned it around for Thistle. That route into the final came after three straight William Hill Championship draws, including a 2-2 draw away to Airdrieonians, a 0-0 stalemate with Arbroath and a 1-1 draw with Queen's Park at Firhill.

Recent Form At Both Ends

St Mirren arrive with sharper results behind them. They beat Aberdeen 2-0 away on Tuesday, when Richard King and Killian Phillips scored, then drew 1-1 with Dundee United at The SMiSA Stadium on Sunday after Jake Young's second-half goal.

The sides also met in the Scottish Gas Scottish Cup quarter-finals at The SMiSA Stadium in March, when Dan Nlundulu scored from the penalty spot and Young scored before half-time for St Mirren. Ben Stanway replied for Partick Thistle in the second half, but St Mirren won that tie and moved on to Hampden.

Thursday's first leg gives Partick Thistle home advantage, but the immediate edge in the stands belongs to the visitors' support. With the away allocation gone and 1,800 Buddies inside Firhill, the first 90 minutes will be played in a crowded playoff setting before the return leg decides the tie.
