Everton Fc Open Striker Search After 17 Goals From Beto, Barry

Everton fc will explore the striker market in the summer transfer window even after Beto and Thierno Barry combined for 17 Premier League goals. David Moyes has been encouraged by the pair’s late progress, but the club is still open to adding another forward if the market brings the right option.

Beto and Barry’s late surge

Moyes said both forwards “have done quite well in the end” and that they “took a bit of time to settle.” That is the clearest sign of why Everton are not treating the issue as settled. Beto opened the league season with one goal in the first 19 games, then levelled at Brighton and Hove Albion with a 98th-minute equaliser at the end of January.

Barry’s goals came in bursts and in different settings. The £27m signing from Villarreal scored home and away against Nottingham Forest, added one at Aston Villa and finished with a brace against Manchester City. Those numbers pushed Everton’s combined return from the pair to 17 league goals, but the club still intends to stay active in the striker market.

Everton, Chelsea and Delap

That search is not starting from scratch. Everton pursued Liam Delap last summer and believed they came close to bringing him from Ipswich Town to Merseyside. Delap has since scored one goal in 26 league appearances for Chelsea, and Everton will need to engage with Chelsea this summer whether or not he is available.

The Chelsea link also runs through Tyrique George, the 20-year-old who arrived at Hill Dickinson Stadium on loan in January. He has struggled to break into the starting line-up, but he has repeatedly made an impact from the bench, giving Everton another squad piece to weigh while they consider where the next striker should come from.

Barry’s season and Everton

Barry’s start was not smooth. After the away defeat to Arsenal, he made comments aimed at a section of Everton supporters, and those posts led to him being booed at some games. His scoring has since improved, and Moyes’ assessment reflects that change, but Everton’s summer stance shows the club is still planning for more than just internal growth up front.

Ivan Toney has also been on Everton’s radar in the past 18 months, though his recent appearance in Liverpool is not thought to have had any link with the club. For supporters, the message is simple: better form from Beto and Barry has not shut the door on another striker arriving before next season.
