Los Angeles Fire truck overturns in Sunland, injuring 2 firefighters

Two Los Angeles Fire Department firefighters suffered minor injuries Tuesday evening when a los angeles fire truck overturned in Sunland while responding to a structure fire. The accident was reported at about 6:45 p.m. at 10500 N. Mcvine Ave., just south of Foothill Boulevard.

The injured firefighters were taken to a hospital for treatment, and no other injuries were reported. LAFD said it is not releasing their names until their families have been notified.

The fire engine landed on its side near an H&R Block building and was partially on top of a crushed car, according to aerial footage. That placed the truck in a narrow stretch beside the building, with the damaged vehicle pinned beneath part of the engine.

The department said the engine was responding to a structure fire when it overturned. That detail ties the crash to an active call, not a parked vehicle or a training drill, and it leaves two firefighters recovering after a roadside rollover that involved one department engine and one crushed car.
