Adam Munsterteiger Dies Peacefully Tuesday Night — Deion Sanders Mourns
adam munsterteiger died peacefully Tuesday night surrounded by family after recently returning to work covering Colorado football recruiting visits the past weekend. Deion Sanders responded Wednesday morning with public condolences, turning a private loss into a visible one for the Colorado football community.
Sanders on Munsterteiger
Sanders posted two messages Wednesday morning honoring Munsterteiger. He wrote, "We appreciated u [Adam] and respected u truly," and added, "Thank u for being u and I’m praying for entire family, friends & loved ones. Adam is 1 of 1. God bless!"
He followed with a second message later Wednesday morning: "Let’s stop taking this day for granted!" Sanders then wrote, "Someone waaay more deserving didn’t wake up this morning but we did and we somehow take this gift for granted. Today is a gift therefore let’s live it being appreciative & kind. God bless u."
Colorado's public response
Fernando Lovo also responded publicly to Sanders' message. The Colorado athletic director wrote, "Awake. Blessed. Grateful," and said it was a pleasure getting to know Adam.
Lovo added that Munsterteiger's memory will live on through all the lives he's touched. That response came as the news settled across a program that had relied on his coverage for years, including his work as a longtime Colorado Buffaloes beat writer and recruiting insider.
Before his death, Munsterteiger had recently been hospitalized, then returned to cover recruiting visits over the past weekend. He also recently appeared on a podcast with longtime Buffs play-by-play announcer Mark Johnson, where he sounded upbeat and energetic.

That recent appearance made the news harder for many around Colorado. Munsterteiger was still active in the work that made him a familiar name in the Buffaloes orbit, and his passing leaves that community dealing with a sudden absence after a weekend return to the beat.
For Colorado fans, coaches and colleagues, the immediate response is simple: remember his work, his voice and the relationships built around the program. Sanders and Lovo have already done that publicly, and their words now sit at the center of how the Buffaloes community is processing the loss.
