Tejasvi Singh Dahiya Replaces Angkrish Raghuvanshi for KKR

tejasvi singh dahiya replaced Angkrish Raghuvanshi as Kolkata Knight Riders’ concussion substitute in the IPL 2026 match against Mumbai Indians. Raghuvanshi left the field after a collision with Varun Chakravarthy during KKR’s bowling and was unable to bat.

KKR’s substitute move

The swap put Dahiya into a role that IPL concussion rules tightly control. Teams nominate possible replacements before the toss, the match referee approves the change after a medical assessment, and the substitute has to match the role of the injured player. Once that switch is made, the original player cannot return to the match.

Raghuvanshi’s exit came after he was involved in the collision with Chakravarthy. He went off soon after and did not come back for KKR’s innings, leaving the side to continue with the approved replacement.

IPL concussion precedent

The move also dropped KKR into a short list of IPL concussion-substitute cases. Vishnu Vinod became the first in IPL history in IPL 2023 during Qualifier 2 between Gujarat Titans and Mumbai Indians, when he entered as a wicketkeeper-batter replacement after Ishan Kishan sustained a concussion in an accidental collision with Chris Jordan while fielding.

That pattern has stayed limited because the league’s medical checks are strict. IPL 2024 brought another case when Yudhvir Singh Charak replaced Mohsin Khan in a match between Lucknow Super Giants and Kolkata Knight Riders, and the like-for-like bowling swap paid off immediately when Yudhvir took a wicket with his first ball.

Mumbai Indians cases

Mumbai Indians have already been part of two of these changes. Ashwani Kumar came in for Corbin Bosch in IPL 2025 against Gujarat Titans after Bosch was hit on the helmet by a Prasidh Krishna bouncer in the 20th over, while Shardul Thakur replaced Mitchell Santner in an IPL 2026 match against Chennai Super Kings at Wankhede Stadium after Santner was hurt completing a low catch off Jasprit Bumrah in the 17th over.

For KKR, the immediate effect was simple: Raghuvanshi could not bat, and Dahiya took his place under the concussion protocol. The replacement had to be approved before the match could move on, and the original player remained out for the rest of the contest.
