Tony Jefferson Chases Super Bowl LXI Ring With Chargers
Tony Jefferson wants a ring, and he is tying that goal to the Chargers' run toward a Super Bowl played at SoFi Stadium. The 34-year-old safety said earlier this week that he believes Los Angeles can be a special team this season, with the title game set for February 14 in the Chargers' home building.
Tony Jefferson and SoFi Stadium
"I want to win a ring," Jefferson said. "The Super Bowl is in LA, at our home stadium, so I'm trying to do whatever I can as far as being a leader and my playmaking ability to put my best foot forward on the field."
He added, "How often do you get an opportunity to do that? It's here, in our home stadium where we play our home games," and called the chance "pretty special."
Chargers Offseason Work
The Chargers were completing Phase 2 of the voluntary offseason program this week and were set to move into Phase 3 next week, when OTA practices are scheduled to start. Jefferson said the energy and camaraderie around the team have been strong in recent weeks.
"We're able to get some plays in, run around, be around the young guys, the vets … it's just great being back," he said. "Another year around the sun for me so enjoying every moment."
Jefferson's 2026 Season
Jefferson is 34 and has played in 134 career NFL games. In the 2026 season, he recorded 4 interceptions and 57 tackles, production that gives the Chargers a veteran safety with a track record of making plays while the team works through its offseason program.
Los Angeles agreed to terms with Jefferson, and his comments make clear he is not treating this season as routine. With Super Bowl LXI coming to SoFi Stadium on February 14, the Chargers' home games now carry a direct line to the one goal he named first.
