Kelly Rizzo visits Ponte Vedra Concert Hall four years later

Kelly Rizzo returned to Ponte Vedra Concert Hall four years after Bob Saget gave his final performance there, stepping onto the same stage where he closed out a night that ended hours before his death. The visit tied the venue in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, to the last show and the last airport on his final trip.

Ponte Vedra Concert Hall

Bob Saget performed at the venue on January 8, 2022, after just recovering from COVID. Rizzo said he called her after the show and told her, "Honey, I did 2 hours and 10 minutes! Can you believe it?" He also told her, "They gave me a standing ovation. It was amazing. I had such a great time, I feel like I’m 26 again."

Those details make the return more than a sentimental stop. The stage is linked to his last performance, and the airport in Orlando became part of the same final route when Rizzo realized it was the last airport he ever flew into.

Bob Saget’s final trip

Saget had spent more than 40 years as a comedian, and Rizzo has said he was proud to call himself one and loved entertaining people. At the venue, hundreds of people gave him cheers and a standing ovation, the kind of crowd response he had clearly carried with him when he phoned her afterward.

He died peacefully in his sleep that night after sustaining a head injury in his hotel room, hours after leaving the stage. Four years later, Rizzo’s visit to Ponte Vedra Concert Hall folded that final night back into the present, with the venue and the airport now sitting inside the same public memory of his last trip.
