Tottenham Hold Two-Point Edge Over West Ham in League Down

Tottenham Hotspur are league down by two points and still control their fate going into the final Premier League day. West Ham United sit 18th and need help as well as a result of their own if they are to escape the drop.

Tottenham’s Tuesday night loss to Chelsea kept West Ham’s survival hopes alive, but the north London side still have the better goal difference at -10 to West Ham’s -22. That leaves Spurs needing a win at home against Everton, while a draw would also be enough because of the gap on goal difference.

Tottenham’s Everton test

Tottenham host Everton in north London with safety still not sealed. They have won only two league matches at home all season, and no Premier League side has picked up fewer home points.

Everton arrive having won just one of their last eight games, yet Tottenham cannot lean on that record alone. Their home form has been weak enough that the final match has become a survival test rather than a formality, and another slip would leave them exposed to what happens in London and elsewhere.

West Ham at 18th

West Ham host Leeds United with the pressure heavier than anywhere else in the scrap. They need a win on Sunday and must also rely on Everton and David Moyes to tilt the outcome their way.

That route is awkward for a club sitting 18th with a -22 goal difference. Even before kick-off, the numbers place Tottenham in the stronger position, and West Ham’s margin for error is already gone.

Moyes and the survival split

Wolverhampton Wanderers and Burnley are already set for the Championship, so the last survival place is the one still in play. Tottenham’s edge is simple: one point on Sunday secures them, and even a draw should be enough because of the goal difference cushion.

For West Ham, the path runs through their own result first and then through outside help. A home win over Leeds is only part of the job, and the rest depends on events that can only break one way for them to stay up.
