Rod Lurie Delivers Lucky Strike Movie Trailer Ahead of June 26 Debut

Roadside Attractions and Saban Films released the official lucky strike movie trailer, giving the first look at Rod Davis Lurie’s World War II drama before its June 26, 2026 theatrical debut. The release also puts Scott Eastwood back in a Lurie war film after their 2019 collaboration on The Outpost.

Rod Lurie and Scott Eastwood

Lurie directed Lucky Strike and co-wrote the screenplay with Marc Frydman. The film stars Scott Eastwood, Colin Hanks, Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor, Taylor John Smith, Lorne MacFadyen, Daniel Ray Rodriguez, Atanas Srebrev, Alexandra Vale, Jake Lowe, Caroline Piette, and more, with Eastwood and Lurie working together again after 2019’s The Outpost.

Battle of the Bulge setting

The film is inspired by true events and follows one soldier trapped behind enemy lines during the last major German offensive in World War II, the Battle of the Bulge. Armed only with his Motorola SCR-300 radio, a new technology that was only battle-ready near the end of the war, he has to use wits and spy craft to slow the advancing Nazi Panzer army and get home.

Lurie’s own framing makes the film’s premise clear: “With World War II, you have a certain head start, don’t you? There is no ambiguity in the righteousness of the two sides. So, a filmmaker is required to figure out what will serve as the thematic spine of their film.” He also said, “In Lucky Strike, we were always asking not how we survive but rather why do we survive. John Castle’s journey, full of one existential calamity after another, would challenge any human’s resolve. And yet his answer to that question above is the only thing that can possibly keep him alive. All of us involved in this production were damn proud to tell this story of how such a magnificent generation of Americans showed the world the essence of heroic survival.”

June 26, 2026 is now the date to watch. The trailer gives distributors an early promotional runway, and it tells theatergoers exactly when this World War II drama will move from preview to release.
