Dolphins Sign Carlos Washington Jr; Miami Adds Two on Roster Move Day
The dolphins sign carlos washington jr move added a back with two career NFL games to Miami’s roster mix on a day the team also brought in tackle Marques Cox. The Dolphins paired those additions with two waivers, trimming tight end Jalin Conyers and guard/tackle Braeden Daniels from the roster.
Carlos Washington Jr Joins Miami
Washington arrives after two seasons with Atlanta from 2024 to 2025, where he appeared in two career games after entering the league as an undrafted college free agent in 2023. He also spent time on Atlanta’s practice squad.
The running back’s college production gives Miami a clearer picture of what it is adding. He finished his collegiate career at Southeastern Louisiana in 2022 after five seasons at New Hampshire from 2017 to 2021, then posted 511 rushing attempts for 2,475 yards and 25 touchdowns in 45 games with 29 starts. He also added 87 receptions for 611 yards and two scores.
Marques Cox Adds Line Depth
Cox comes in with a different path. He entered the NFL as an undrafted college free agent with Denver in 2025 and spent time on practice squads with Denver and Arizona.
At the college level, he logged 61 games with 59 starts, spending his last two seasons at Kentucky from 2023 to 2024 after five seasons at Northern Illinois from 2018 to 2022. He played primarily at left tackle, giving Miami a lineman with a long starting resume at one spot.
Miami’s Roster Shuffle
The roster moves came with corresponding exits. Conyers entered the NFL as an undrafted college free agent with Miami in 2024 and spent that season on injured reserve, while Daniels entered the league as a fourth-round pick, 118th overall, by Washington in the 2023 NFL Draft and spent that season on injured reserve as well.
For Miami, the immediate change is straightforward: Washington and Cox are in, Conyers and Daniels are out. Washington’s two-game NFL résumé and Cox’s 59 college starts give the Dolphins two developmental additions with different body types and experience levels as the roster turns over again.
