Breanna Stewart Targets 20 Again as Liberty Host Valkyries Vs Liberty
Breanna Stewart has scored at least 20 points in three of her last four outings, and the New York Liberty brought that run back to Barclays Center for valkyries vs liberty on Thursday, May 21. New York entered 3-1 and came home after a three-game road trip.
Stewart’s scoring run
Stewart had also cleared 20 points in three of four career meetings with Golden State, which gives the Liberty a clear scoring anchor while they sort through a short injury report. Her 50.0 eFG% across 18 home games in 2025 backs up the numbers New York has seen from her in Brooklyn.
The Liberty’s start has been backed by the league’s top overall NET Rating at 14.6, and that form has shown up at Barclays Center before. New York was 18-5 straight up in its previous two seasons at home, so the return from the road carried more than routine scheduling weight.
Golden State’s minutes puzzle
Golden State arrived with Janelle Salaun taking on a heavier load. She scored 20 or more points in two of the Valkyries’ three games, and when she got full minutes she shot 50% from the field and 50% from the line.
The Valkyries also listed Cecilia Zandalasini, Juste Jocyte and Iliana Rupert out, while the Liberty had Leonie Fiebich out and Sabally, Sabrina Ionescu and Betnijah Laney-Hamilton as game-time decisions. That left the matchup tied to availability as much as form, with Stewart’s scoring streak still the cleanest edge on the floor if New York got its key pieces dressed.
