Braydon Fisher to Open for Blue Jays in Yankees Finale

braydon fisher is penciled in to open for the Blue Jays in Thursday’s series finale against the Yankees, giving Toronto a bullpen-style plan for the last game of the set. It will be his second start of the season and the third start of his career.

Fisher’s First Turn Against New York

Fisher enters with a 2-1 record and a 3.08 ERA this season. Against the Yankees, he has been effective in relief, going 1-0 with a 3.00 ERA in six career appearances.

Toronto’s choice comes after it used four relievers in each of the first three games of the series. That usage left the club with a 2-1 win on Wednesday after dropping the first two games, and it moved the Blue Jays to 6-10 in their past 16 games.

Spencer Miles Behind Fisher

Spencer Miles is likely to follow as the bulk reliever. He has made 12 of his 13 appearances out of the bullpen, and he gives Toronto a second arm that has recently handled longer work.

Miles threw 56 pitches to 14 hitters in 3 2/3 innings of two-hit ball in a win at Detroit on May 19. That came after he logged 38 pitches in three scoreless innings in a 6-1 loss to the Angels on May 10.

Carlos Rodon Opposes Toronto

Carlos Rodon is scheduled to start for the Yankees. He allowed six runs on six hits in 2 1/3 innings against Toronto in Game 3 of the 2025 American League Division Series, and he is 2-3 with a 4.72 ERA in nine career regular-season starts against the Blue Jays.

Rodon has also been fighting for better command this season. He allowed three runs on two hits in 4 1/3 innings in his season debut against the Brewers, walked five in a 4-3 defeat, then gave up three runs, two earned, in 3 2/3 innings against the Mets and walked five in a 6-3 loss. The matchup leaves Toronto trying to navigate one more game with a short bullpen plan while Fisher gets a rare start in a division series environment.
