Greenwood Tavern backs Maroons, The Carine backs Blues at Accor Stadium

Two Perth northern suburbs pubs less than five minutes apart are taking opposite sides for State of Origin game one at accor stadium. The Greenwood Tavern is flying the Maroon flag, while The Carine is backing New South Wales, and both will keep the rivalry going across all three fixtures.

Greenwood Tavern And The Carine

The Greenwood Tavern is serving XXXX Gold for $9 all series and opening with a new four-metre LED screen on May 27. It is also running a steak night that same evening, giving Maroons fans a venue built around the opener.

The Carine is answering with Tooheys New at $9 all series, plus $20 schnitzels and $25 parmys on game nights. Both venues say fans from either side are welcome, so the split allegiance is part of the draw rather than a hard line through the crowd.

Three Game Nights

The promotions are set for May 27, June 17 and July 8, covering all three State of Origin fixtures. Halftime games, pick-the-margin competitions and giveaways will run at both pubs, with supporter gear and your height in beer among the prizes.

The biggest draw sits above the beer specials. One prize offers flights and tickets to State of Origin in Brisbane next year, turning a local viewing night into a shot at the road trip that comes with it.

Morris Hotel Adds A Screen

The Morris Hotel is also showing the game on its big beer garden screen and will have east coast beers on pour for fans from both sides. For game one, that gives northern suburbs viewers a third option as the opening kick-off arrives this Wednesday from 6pm.
