Shekiera Martinez Joins Tottenham Hotspur From West Ham United
Shekiera Martinez will join Tottenham Hotspur from West Ham United this summer after signing a long-term contract. The 24-year-old Germany international becomes a Spurs player when the summer transfer window opens next month, giving Tottenham a forward who finished the 2024/25 campaign with 10 league goals in 12 appearances.
Tottenham Hotspur Moves Quickly
Tottenham said Martinez has chosen the club despite significant interest elsewhere in the game, and Martin Ho described her as a player the club had admired for some time. Ho added that she has “real presence, intelligent movement and a strong instinct in the box.”
Martinez said the move fits where she wants to go next. “I’m delighted to be a Spurs player. This is the perfect next step for my career and also for me to improve as a player,” she said.
West Ham United To Spurs
The transfer ends a short stay at West Ham, which began in July 2024. Martinez spent the first half of that campaign on loan with SC Freiburg before returning to West Ham in January 2025, then went on to score on her first start in England’s top flight.
Her output followed fast. Martinez finished as the second top goalscorer in the WSL in the 2024/25 campaign, won back-to-back Player of the Month awards in March and April, and took the league’s Rising Star award at the Women’s Professional Game Awards.
Germany Call-Up And Form
The numbers behind the move run deeper than one league season. Martinez had already made more than 100 appearances for Eintracht Frankfurt after moving there in 2016 from SV Glaserzell and FV Horas, and she featured in the UEFA Women’s Champions League for the club.
She later added six goals across all competitions in her first full WSL season in 2025/26, including a bicycle-kick strike against Manchester United that won the league’s Goal of the Month award in December. Martinez also received her maiden senior call-up to Germany in October 2025 and made her debut in November 2025 against Spain in the UEFA Women’s Nations League final.
For Tottenham, the deal brings in a forward already producing at league level and already trusted by Germany. For Martinez, the summer move gives her a fresh route after a season in which her scoring, awards and international breakthrough all arrived in quick succession.
