Mercedes and McLaren Bring Upgrades for 2026 F1 Montreal Schedule
Mercedes and McLaren changed their cars for the f1 montreal schedule, while Ferrari arrived with no new parts for the 2026 Canadian Grand Prix. Mercedes called it its first major upgrade of the 2026 season, and the contrast at Montreal starts with who brought development and who did not.
Mercedes Front Wing Changes
Mercedes altered the front wing, suspension and floor. The team lowered the outer elements of the front wing and joined them to the footplate, then made corresponding changes to the endplates and added new strakes to the footplate.
The brake cake tin was reshaped slightly to create better airflow to the rear of the car and increase downforce. Mercedes also overhauled the floor to improve pressure distribution and increase airflow into the diffuser.
McLaren Adds Surface Updates
McLaren brought surface aerodynamic changes that included a new front wing and engine cover. The team also added a winglet to the top of the halo and modified the rear wing endplates.
Those parts give McLaren a different development path from Mercedes, but both teams arrived in Canada with visible changes rather than a carryover package. That leaves Ferrari as the main outlier in this group, with no new parts on its car for Montreal.
Red Bull, Alpine And Haas
Red Bull brought a more modest package, with new front wing elements, front brake duct designs and cooling louvres aimed at more suitable set-up configurations for Canada and Monaco. Alpine has a new floor and rear wing for Pierre Gasly and Franco Colapinto, while Haas will introduce a new floor, sidepod inlet, engine cover and rear suspension for the VF-26.
Aston Martin is the only team besides Ferrari that has not introduced upgrades. Honda continues work on solving its vibration and associated problems, adding another layer to a weekend where some teams arrived pushing forward and others held their current specification.
