Georgia Tech-Virginia Moved to 11 am in ACC Baseball — Unc Baseball

unc baseball changed Thursday’s ACC quarterfinal slate, pushing Georgia Tech’s game against Virginia to 11 am in Charlotte. The top-seeded Yellow Jackets will still play the 8 seed at Truist Field, with the adjustment made because of inclement weather in the forecast.

Georgia Tech’s place in the bracket stays intact. The schedule shift affects the quarterfinal start time, but the rest of the tournament schedule has not changed.

Truist Field Timing

The game will be played at Truist Field in Charlotte, N.C., and will air on ACC Network. Georgia Tech, the No. 1 seed, will be in the 3rd base dugout for all of its games at the tournament.

That setup gives the Yellow Jackets the same dugout side throughout the event, even with the weather-driven change to Thursday’s opening time. Virginia enters as the 8-seeded opponent in a quarterfinal that now begins earlier than originally planned.

Georgia Tech Path

If Georgia Tech wins, it would play in the ACC Tournament semifinals on Saturday, May 23 at 1 pm. A victory there would send the Yellow Jackets to the championship game on Sunday, May 24 at noon.

The bracket still gives Georgia Tech a direct path from the quarterfinal to the semifinals and then the title game. Parker Brosius supplied a separate lift in the tournament run, hitting a go-ahead grand slam with two outs in the 7th inning.

Weather Shift in Charlotte

The Atlantic Coast Conference moved the schedule because of inclement weather in Charlotte. For teams already in place, the change leaves the tournament moving forward with one altered start time and the same structure around it.

Georgia Tech now has a clear assignment: Virginia at 11 am Thursday, with the postseason road continuing only if the No. 1 seed handles the 8 seed in Charlotte.
