Yan Diomande could cost Liverpool more than €100 million

Yan Diomande is on Liverpool’s list, and RB Leipzig would want more than €100 million if they let the 19-year-old leave. The winger has also said the transfer talk gives him motivation, while Liverpool are weighing their wide attacking options for the summer.

Liverpool and Leipzig

Diomande joined Leipzig from Leganes in July 2025 and is tied to the Bundesliga club until June 2030. Liverpool are targeting him to strengthen the wide areas, and Leipzig would prefer to keep him for another season rather than move him on now.

The scale of the price tag stands out because Liverpool have already spent around £450 million in the previous summer window, including performance-related add-ons, while bringing in £200 million from sales in the same market. They will also pay £55 million plus £5 million in potential bonuses for Jeremy Jacquet after he arrives from Rennes on July 1.

Diomande’s numbers

Diomande has delivered 13 goals and 10 assists in 36 appearances across all competitions this season. He is two-footed and can beat a defender on either side, which is part of why Liverpool have heavily scouted him.

He has also scored three goals in nine appearances for Ivory Coast and was named in Emerse Fae’s World Cup squad. Paris Saint-Germain are another contender, but would need a departure before they can move forward.

Diomande on transfer talk

Earlier this month, Diomande said the noise around him drives him on. “Imagine people say you go to Chelsea or Real Madrid (as examples of big clubs) to do this job… you’re going to be happy and motivated to do more.” He added: “I don’t think about it too much because my focus is on the pitch, my job is playing football, that takes care of everything but it gives me a lot of motivation to see people talking about me.”

For Liverpool, the chase points to a clear summer decision: either pay a premium for a winger with age, production and room to grow, or look elsewhere as they prepare for the wider reshaping of the attack around the departure of Mohamed Salah.
