Shatori Walker-kimbrough Waived by Indiana Fever After 5 Games
shatori walker-kimbrough was waived by the Indiana Fever on Thursday afternoon after appearing in five games for the team this season. The move leaves Indiana with one open roster spot, and the new roster rule requires teams to carry 12 players.
Walker-Kimbrough’s Brief Fever Run
Indiana signed Walker-Kimbrough to a training camp contract on April 16, then kept her on a one-year, non-guaranteed deal. She turned 31 on Monday and had already entered her 10th WNBA season before the opener, with her career dating to 2017.
She played two games for the Fever this season, including 3 minutes, 18 seconds in Wednesday’s 17-point win over the Portland Fire. That small role made the roster move a clean reset rather than a late-season adjustment.
Fever Roster Under 12 Players
The opening matters because the new Collective Bargaining Agreement requires teams to carry 12 players. Indiana now has one vacancy to fill, and that leaves the front office with a direct roster choice before the schedule tightens again.
Walker-Kimbrough had said before the season-opener that she was impressed by the professionalism of the organization, the energy around the team and the high expectations. “I came into training camp knowing that I have a great opportunity, but I never take any opportunity for granted,” she said.
She also said, “So coming in, being a part of a great organization and being able to be under a great coach like Steph White and alongside great players, great opportunity, (and I) want to take advantage of it.” Indiana returns to the court Friday to host the Golden State Valkyries at 7:30 p.m. ET, then has five days between games after that home date.
