CityFair Opens Friday With Fireworks Portland Tonight at 10 p.m.
CityFair opens Friday at Portland Waterfront Park, and fireworks portland tonight is set for 10 p.m. after gates open at 5 p.m. The opening-night show gives visitors an exact start time to plan around, while the fair’s three-weekend run gives families a longer window to choose when to go.
Portland Waterfront Park
Friday’s schedule is fixed: CityFair opens at 5 p.m., then the fireworks show follows at 10 p.m. Viewers who stay home can watch on KUNP, KATU.com, and KATU’s Facebook and YouTube pages, while KATU will provide coverage throughout the Rose Festival event.
$15 buys a single-day adult admission, $25 covers a season pass, and a $100 Family Fun Pack is also available. Children 6 and younger get in free, and military members and veterans receive free admission at the gate.
Three weekends
CityFair’s schedule stretches beyond opening night, with the fair running from noon to 10 p.m. Saturday and from noon to 9 p.m. Sunday and Memorial Day. After the holiday weekend, it returns May 29-31 before the final weekend on June 5-7.
Parking near the park is limited, so festival organizers are pushing visitors toward TriMet transportation options. That leaves the clearest tradeoff for anyone headed downtown: pay for convenience and deal with limited parking, or use transit and keep the trip simpler.
Rose Festival coverage
KATU’s role as the Rose Festival’s new home makes the opening fireworks more than a one-night draw; it also creates a broadcast option for people who cannot make the 10 p.m. show in person. For anyone trying to time a visit, the cleanest move is to treat Friday as a 5 p.m. arrival problem and a 10 p.m. viewing problem, not a casual drop-in.
